Baptism

The date for the next Baptism Sunday is: June 8, 2008

What is Baptism?

Having a personal relationship with God is the greatest thing in all of life.  God began the concept of “Covenant” with his people or persons (Deuteronomy 7:9).

Within each covenant (agreement) that He offers, there are promises that he gives.

Jesus offers the free gift of eternal life to everyone (John 3:16).  Baptism is part of our response to following Jesus Christ.  It is an act of obedience as we follow Jesus Christ.  The Bible paints a beautiful picture as our identification with Jesus in his death, burial, and resurrection.  When we make our decision to accept Christ as your savior, the Bible teaches that our old way of life is dead, and we are beginning a new life with Christ, (Romans 6:4-6).  Accepting Christ as our savior means we believe that Jesus Christ alone died on the cross for our sins.  Because of his work on the cross (his death and resurrection), Jesus bridged the gap between us and God for all time.

If you have come to this point in your quest for God, then you are ready to be baptized.  At MVCC, we want to come together as your church family on this special occasion and celebrate your commitment to your new life in Christ.

What is the Water Baptism Process?

We desire to have the privilege to walk alongside you to assist in your understanding of baptism.  The Bible declares that if you believe in your heart than Jesus died on a cross and rose again from the dead, and He is your Lord, you may be baptized.  The Bible does not declare that you must “clean your life up” before you are baptized, that is why he died to forgive us of our sin.

We want you to have a full understanding of your decision to be baptized.  At MVCC we offer a three part study called, “Discovering God.”  We would love to schedule your baptism in our new “Connection Center.”  Our baptism celebrations are always held once a month on Sundays at the conclusion of second service (noon).

Actual Baptism

On the morning of your baptism, you’ll want to bring a t-shirt and shorts, towel, and an extra set of clothes. Expect to get wet because you will be fully immersed. Our Pastor will make the announcement on the patio, and friends and family will gather around the baptistery and share in the excitement of the day with you! At this time, you will go into the water and get baptized!

As a church, we will celebrate together, fellowship with family, friends and meet your new brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Would you like more information on getting baptized?  Just fill out the information below and it will be directed to one of our pastors.  They would love to speak with you about baptism.
