“We ask God to give us complete knowledge of His will and to give us spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way we live will always honor and please the Lord, and our lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, we will grow as we learn to know God better and better.” Colossians 1:9b-10
Our Pastors
Pastors are called to God and given to the church to teach the Word of God, build up the body, equip believers to serve, and protect the flock of God against the enemy.
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for the works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up." Ephesians 4:11-13
Our Elders
Our church leadership is governed through men with a variety of spiritual gifts and talents. An elder serves God by serving the people of God. Biblical qualifications for elders are found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1:6.
The job description of an elder:
"Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave-just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:25-28
"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." 2 Timothy 2:2
Our elder team includes: Larry McIlvaine, Rich Martin, Karl Stoll, Robert Taylor and Mike Maiolo.
Our Leaders
Leading a ministry at MVCC is exciting. Our expectations of every leader in our church is that they:
-
Have attended the Welcome Home Class, placed membership, and completed all classes in Connecting at MVCC.
-
Accept a role of a servant in helping us accomplish the vision God has given our church.
-
Commit themselves to the standards of holiness, godliness, and righteousness as set forth in the Word of God.
-
Boldly and regularly share their faith.
-
Dedicate themselves to be a spiritual leader worthy of being followed and display a Christ-like example before the believers of our church body.
-
Accept the responsibility for the love, caring, and shepherding of the people who are part of this fellowship.
-
Support the programs and ministries of this church through their own life and the lives of those in their family in every way they possibly can.
-
Commit themselves to a daily program of personal, spiritual development through regular, systematic Bible study and prayer.
-
Support the doctrine, structure and mission of our church.
